Composer and improviser inspired by french classical music from the 20th century, but also by folk and pop, Ben Rando graduated from the IMFP, from the Marseille Academy, and then the Paris Academy, where he learned how to write for big band, and improved his theoretical and piano knowledge. In 2006, he founded the “Dress Code” quartet, which whom he recorded the “Far Away” album, introduced by the famous saxophonist Chris Cheek and labeled “Révélation” by the Jazz Magazine (“An absolutely perfect sound and group cohesion, meticulous compositions and solos”). His last album “True Story” is the first one he released under his name, him being behind the writing and the recording, gathering for the occasion a fabulous team of musicians (Sarah Elizabeth Charles – singing, writing / Yacine Boulares – saxophones / Federico Casagrande – guitar / Sam Favreau – double bass / Cédrick Bec – drum). He's playing, here, with Sam Favreau and Cedrick Bec.
