OUT/LINE - Espace Gould
Out/Line, of course, means the shape of something or a sketch. This first album from bassist François Lapeyssonnie dives into a cinematographic universe, an undercurrent of dark and elegant textures and images. The melody stretches through the ‘radio transistor’ tracks, interludes that are like ports of call along the album’s waves. The album centres on 70s groove and connections with jazz… broad, acoustic, and vast. It’s a modern style of jazz with influences from current artists like Butcher Brown, Christian Scott, Rudder, and Joshua Redman.
