Alex Monfort Trio - Salle Fitzgerald
With Alex Monfort on piano, Samuel F’hima on bass, and Tom Peyron on drums, this recently-formed ensemble is rapidly climbing the ladder to success. It didn’t take long for the three musicians to find themselves propelled on stage at prestigious springboard events like RéZZo Focal in Vienne, France, Jazz à St-Germain-des-Prés, Jazz à Vannes, and the SACEM Trophy, as well as the Blue Note Festival, where they unanimously won first place. After that, the general public got to know them on the stage of Sunset/Sunside, a Paris jazz club, where they received a well-earned enthusiastic response for the release of their first album.
On their latest album, ‘Introspection,’ released in May 2018, pianist Alex Monfort pays homage to his heroes Mulgrew Miller, Chick Corea, McCoy Tyner, and saxophonist John Coltrane, as well as to the African-American roots of jazz. Praised in reviews and articles, this latest album from Alex Monfort looks to be a big success. Named a ‘Break-out Jazz’ artist in Jazz Magazine by the famous writer Ludovic Florin, rated TT by magazine Télérama, ‘Love it’ by Action Jazz, and selected as a ‘Hit’ by Couleurs Jazz Magazine, the young pianist has done ‘Club Jazz à FIP’ radio interviews and TSF Jazz ‘Deli Express’ live radio performances, while also regularly performing with his trio.
