The Machetazo is a musical project created by five young contemporary jazz musicians trained at the Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country (Musikene).
After passing through New York and then the Netherlands, the group now resides in Madrid and continues to shape contemporary jazz.
If their music is mainly rooted in jazz, it is more and more independent from the conventions of the genre, it is arranged and played with a concentration and feeling unprecedented in this musical style and sometimes similar to other music.
Their live performances are energetic, forceful and brilliant, enriching the musical style they practice with nuances uncommon to jazz. The originality, creativity, and complicity of the musicians find in live performances the ideal vehicle for the exploration of their soloists, making each concert a discharge of positive energy that cannot leave the listener indifferent.
The Machetazo is an instrumental group with very diverse influences, with sober jazz roots and contemporary adventures where improvisation is the order of the day.
