Akagera - Showcase Salle Fitzgerald
Benoit Lavollée, vibraphone & marimba / Stéphane Montigny, bass trombone / David Georgelet, drums
Experienced, experimental, instrumental, and viscerally original, this new trio winds on the borders of fierce jazz and plays with totally new orchestrations.
Imagined as a wink and a tribute to the album AKAGERA, released in 1980 by the trio Humair-Jeanneau-Texier, this new trio has every intention of digging its furrow. In 1980, a lioness's head and a lion's head carried the cover; here a zebra skin will be the new banner.
Like their illustrious elders, the Trio Akagera draws its influences from African music (Akagera is the name of a nature reserve in Rwanda, on the Tanzanian border) and from jazz and so-called repetitive contemporary music.
Drums, vibraphone, marimba and bass trombone are the DNA of this rascal project created by David Georgelet, Benoit Lavollée and Stéphane Montigny.
