Masterclasse avec Thomas de Pourquery - Médiathèque

Jammin'Juan and the Library Albert Camus welcome you for a masterclass with this extraordinary musician... musician but also author, composer, actor and producer...

Simultaneously with his high-level career in rugby, Thomas de Pourquery began playing the alto saxophone, then the tenor, at 14 years of age as a self-taught player. The emotion created by his encounter with Stefano Di Battista encouraged him to prefer music to a sporting career. In 1998, he joined the C.N.S.M. of Paris and made his weapons by playing almost every night with the Collectif des Falaises. At the same time, he met Laurent Cugny and joined the Big Band Lumière in 1999. Then came François Jeanneau’s Pandemonium and the Orchestre National de Jazz 2001/2002. He has been playing in Andy Emler’s Megabyte since 2000 (4 albums, 2 Victoires du Jazz and 1 Django d'or).
As a leader, he creates a quintet with trombonist Daniel Zimmermann, a band that will evolve to give birth to DPZ, and to a 1st album hailed by a «Shock of the Year» 2009 of the monthly Jazzmagazine/Jazzman.
In the same year he created «Supersonic», an unprecedented meeting of 6 musicians from the jazz, electro, rock and drum&bass scene. 3 albums will be released with Supersonic and will win many awards and a great success with the critics and the public.
He is also sought after by the cinema as an actor and composed the B.O for the feature film «FIDELIO L'Odyssée d'Alice». He’s a singer with his pop band VKNG.
He is currently working on his pop project Von Pourquery.

Free participation.
