Pilani Bubu – voice & poems / Florent Briqué – trumpet / Alexis Moutzouris – saxophone & clarinet / Lucas Territo – prepared guitar / Damien Bernard – drums
Marthe and Pilani Bubu unveil Nay’ Indaba, the joint project of the French trans-oriental jazz-rock collective and the South African singer and poet. A sonic odyssey through South Africa, its rhythms, and its female activists. The group explores social issues in South Africa and its struggles, through a hybrid music enhanced by soul and experimental jazz influences. Guitar arpeggios intertwine with ancestral rhythmic elements, committed chants, captivating vocals, and haunting brass, to present a unique sonic and human adventure. Each note, each lyric is an invitation to discover, feel, and reflect. Nay’ Indaba is a musical experience that transcends borders, a bridge between continents and cultures. “Energetic, militant, with a radiant musical force, an intense album.” LE MONDE
