An Ecuadorian bassist, singer, author and composer, Helena mixes the music from her place of birth with jazz, performing numerous concerts in France and abroad. Her talent and taste for improvised music has seen her share the stage with great figures from jazz and world music.In her second disc entitled “KARISHINA”, Helena Recalde presents a fusion of Andean melodies, Afro Pacific rhythms, jazz and improvisation with Fady Farah, virtuoso pianist from Lebanon, and Vanesa Garcia, Argentinian drummer and percussionist.Her world is inspired by the artists she admires and calls the jazzmen of the world; Avishai Cohen, Omar Soza, Mario Canonge and Michel Camilo, among others, as well as great traditional singers such as Mercedes Sosa and Susana Baca. Always accompanied by her bass, Helena recounts her memories through her compositions. Her mixed music is the result of the meeting of three continents, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe, her new home.
