This quartet offers a clever mix of contemporary jazz, electronic and improvised music with influences tinged with folk and repetitive minimalism.
Drawing its inspiration from life – the group’s name comes from the Mohs scale, used to classify minerals – the quartet’s music is a call to contemplate the forces that surround us. With captivating, dreamlike textures and organic melodies, their soaring sound invites us to dream and escape.
In 2023, Mirage, the new mohs. project, was the result of collective composition and arrangement work. Continuing its dreamlike, mineral exploration, the sound develops, refines itself and polishes off its edges. The album begins with the track New Places, announcing the exploration of new elements.
Mirage is the atmosphere, the grey area, the twilight that mixes with dawn. We let ourselves float along with the currents, and the music flows in a continuous cycle then begins again … like a repetitive echo which remains buried in each of us like a primary essence.
This concert is offered as part of an AJC – Pro Helvetia partnership, to promote the circulation of Swiss artists in France, and more particularly on the AJC network.
