NIO means soul in Mandinka, the maternal language of young Senegalese musician, singer and composer Momi Maiga. The kora and his voice convey his thoughts on human values. Alongside Catalan percussionist Aleix Tobias Sabater, the excellent Marçal Ayats on cello and Mexican violinist Carlos Montfort, the NIO project becomes magic for all the senses. A dynamic and constant dialogue between cultures. Casamance, Mexico and Catalonia mingle in a sea of transcontinental sounds and rhythms that surprise at every turn.

Momi Maiga’s warm voice dances between the twenty-two strings of the Kora, the majestic bow of the cello, the delicate, almost transparent sounds of the percussion and the multiple sound effects of the violin. The result is a project that is dynamic, energetic, vibrant, powerful and profound all at once. The soul of the show is brought to life by the presence of the four musicians together on stage, captivating the audience in an instant.
